Resourses : Mealtime Graces
On this page we have collected a number of graces to be said or more commonly (in true AMSAG tradition) sung before meal-times. They are all, as far as we can tell, anonymous and some have been modified by members of AMSAG. If you know differently or would like to share other graces then please let us know.
For the food we eat
(Tune: Kum By Yah)
For the food we eat we thank you.
For the friends we meet kind and true.
For your loving care all day through,
O Lord, we thank you.
For health and strength
(Sung as a round)
For health and strength and daily food
We praise your name O Lord.
Mealtime is here
Mealtime is here,
The board is spread.
Thanks be to God
Who gives us bread.
For health and strength
(Tune: Brother James' Air)
For health and strength and daily food we praise Thy name, O Lord.
In this our camp and all our days
Thy presence be adored.
We praise Thy name,
We praise Thy name,
We praise Thy name, O Lord.
Be present at our table Lord
(Tune: Hernando's Hideaway)
Be present at our table Lord.
Be here and ev'rywhere adored.
His mercies bless and grant that we
May learn to live in harmony.
Amen!
The birds up in the tree top
The birds up in the tree top sing their song,
The angels join in chorus loud and long.
The flowers in the hedgerow lend their hue,
So why shouldn't I,
Why shouldn't I
Praise Him too?
Alternatively...
The birds upon the treetops sing their song.
The angels chant their chorus all day long.
The flowers in the garden blend their hue.
So why shouldn't I, why shouldn't you praise Him too?
Thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks
Thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks
To the Lord above give thanks,
Thanks for food and daily living,
Thanks, thanks. Amen.
